The Exclusive interview of the coolest chick ever, DJ DUNE sharing with us her love for vintage and music!

1)    What is your name and occupation?

Miss June D – Vintage Connoseuir/DJ/Yoginni

2)   What do you love about Vintage fashion?

I love that you can find pieces that no one else will be wearing, they are one of kind. I love that I’ve been able to dress like I’m spending tons of money on clothes for years with barely spending a penny! Vintage is affordable and accessible to everyone. It also makes me feel great when I support local thrifts, small vintage businesses and recycle/reuse and keeping our planet green through buying vintage.

3)   Who are your style icons?

Marilyn Monroe – she’s my favorite blonde bombshell! Gwen Stefani is the hottest woman on this planet (remember her first Spin Magazine cover?!) Anita Pallenberg, Shirley Manson of Garbage,  French Women

4)   What are the current must haves in your closet?

Crazy 80’s Dresses – they make me feel like walking art

Jumpsuits– you don’t have to use your brain at all to wear one of these. Just throw it on and walk out the door looking stunning

High Waisted mini skirts – I have been taking long vintage skirts and cropping them short to make them high waisted minis. I’ve found this most effective in getting a guy’s attention.

THE ROMPER. Who can resist a girl in cute Romper, I mean seriously?!

Anything with Sequins – When you are feeling blue wear something with sequins and VIOLA feel like a movie star. I can’t help be feel fabulous wearing sequins add some glitter on the cheeks ala David Bowie and you’re a walking glamazon.

5)   What  was the best DJ gig you ever had?

Blow UP San Francisco – This is one of the craziest Hipster parties I’ve ever spun at. The turntables were suspended by two chains from the ceiling, so it was like swing, and the stage was packed with kids jumping up and down and bumping into the tables the whole time I was spinning. The records kept skipping but no one cared they just kept dancing. I was sweating so much the records were wet. It was all about the music and having fun, I don’t see a lot of parties like that anymore. Not since Motherfucker is NYC called it quits, which is the second best DJ experience I’ve ever had. The third is when kids in Dallas were chanting “NY” while I played.

6)   Name 4 of the most played songs on your sets including any guilty pleasures

Okay, so I hate to admit this but Michael Jackson’s Thriller some how always gets in there. The others – B52’s LOVE SHACK, Green Velvet SHAKE AND POP and anything by the hot French sensation Brodinski.

7)   Are you a shoes or bags girl? Or both?

BAGS! OMG I LOVE BAGS. You should see how many clutches I have, I even have one with quilted watermelons all over it. It’s so fun! I love purses, they can make a break an outfit. SHOES – not so much, I don’t know what my deal is, but I buy shoes from payless because they are so cheap I can buy a lot. I hate wearing the same thing over and over again.

8)   Describe your style

A well put together piece of art.  My body is my canvas, it’s how I express myself. No matter how many times I’ve tried to convince myself that I don’t care about clothes, or hair and make up because it’s not spiritual or it’s stupid, well, I end up not feeling like myself, because my true spiritual experience and peace inside comes from embracing who I am, which is an artist expressing myself through fashion, art, music and health.

9)   What’s next on the horizon for you?

I’m finishing up a track I’ve been working with these awesome artists called Streetlab where we’ve been collaborating with singer named TV Tony. (I know you’re interested already right?) I’ve also just launched my website whitedovenyc.com, which is a guide to vintage, wellness and living a fabulous green lifestyle. It’s so exciting to finally have a site which is another outlet of self expression that will hopefully reach more people. So I’m building my online shop, blog, deepening my self love and manifesting my desires.

10)                  What are you grateful for?

I’m grateful for all the people who support me on my journey and help me to choose love and not fear one day at a time. I’m grateful for amazing women leading the way for us to follow in their footsteps.
